Seeing an araçari up close is always a moment of extreme emotion for any observer of nature. Altogether, there are 16 species of araçaris in our country. The spectacle promoted by nature is in the different colors of these exuberant animals.
The huge and multicolored beaks of the araçaris make their kinship with toucans very clear. They are very close family members. They are considered cousins.
But not all bear the name of “araçari”. Three species are considered to be in the same family, but are called saripoca. […]
Perhaps, the chestnut araçari (Pteroglossus castanotis) is the best known araçari. And also what most resembles an old acquaintance from the Brazilian forests, the toucan, due to its enormous beak. Despite being strong and large, he is very delicate and works with dexterity when picking small fruits, his main food.

This species occurs from Colombia to Bolivia, in Paraguay and in central-southern Brazil, especially in the Pantanal of Mato Grosso.
