armadillo hole

The burrows are the armadillos' homes. They build them themselves on the ground with their sharp, digging claws. Because they physically modify the environment in which they live, armadillos are called engineers from the ecosystem, as its burrows are well equipped: protected from heat and cold, predators and burned. They usually have more than one entrance and can be true underground tunnels. They also serve as shelter for other animals, such as snakes and lizards, as armadillos end up abandoning the oldest burrows to dig new ones later on.
