Bartolomeu Campos de Queirós, with simplicity and great delicacy, walks through the childhood memories and fantasies and transforms common words into poetic prose of the highest quality.
The narrative focuses on the vision of an adult narrator who rescues his childish power to see the world. With keen observation, he follows Antônio's life trajectory – from birth in a small country town to leaving to study abroad. It was at the water station that Antônio arrived. They say he was born before his time. They asked to borrow fat chickens from neighbors. They threw her navel into the current. The narrator's effort to reconstruct the past is full of fantasy, imagination and affection. However, more than an emotional account of an existence, Indez it is a portrait of the habits, beliefs and values of the interior of Minas Gerais, the writer's place of origin.
