Is it possible to include sugar in the diet in a balanced way?

Currently, there are numerous diets that claim to be miraculous. Gluten-free, lactose-free, carbohydrate-free among others. In addition, there is a habit of dividing food into “good” and “bad”. Therefore, sugar is one of the main items eliminated from the diet of those who want to lose weight. But actually, what leads to weight loss is calorie restriction, not specific nutrients or foods.

We know that excessive sugar consumption raises the energy value (calories) of food and consequently it leads to weight gain and this weight gain is a risk factor for the development of diabetes.

However, the balance of food is the most important. It's no use cutting sugar or very fatty foods like pizza, hamburgers and fried foods if you eat a lot at meals or snacking all day, even if important foods such as rice, beans, meat, fruits and chestnuts.

So, it is possible to include a little sugar in the food, as long as it is balanced to maintain overall health (including a healthy weight). In the case of people with diabetes, it is also possible, but in this situation, It is important to have a nutritionist follow up to ensure blood glucose control.
