Rachel de Queiroz is a prestigious Brazilian writer who was precocious in everything. She was born in Ceará in 1910 and graduated as a teacher at just 15 years old. As she witnessed the drought that ravaged her land at that time, at the age of 20 she wrote one of her greatest works, the book “O Quinze”, which addresses the sad reality of migrants fleeing the drought Northeast. For the book, she received an award from the Graça Aranha Foundation and the work was known in major capitals.
Throughout her life, Rachel de Queiroz wrote many books, was a translator, author of plays, teacher and journalist, that is, she had a life dedicated to letters.
