The Rabbit was always making fun of the Frog. I found him lazy and sluggish, incapable of any agility. The frog got angry:
– Want to bet career with me?
- With you? - The rabbit was amazed.
– Precisely! Let's run tomorrow, you on the road and I through the woods, to the river bank…
The rabbit laughed a lot and accepted the challenge. The frog gathered all his relatives and distributed them along the side of the path, with orders to respond to the rabbit's cries.
The next morning, the two of them lined up and the rabbit darted out, losing sight of the frog that had leapt out. He ran, ran, ran, stopped and asked:
– Comrade Frog?
Another frog answered inside the bush:
- Hey?
The rabbit started running again. When he judged his opponent to be far away, he shouted:
– Comrade Frog?
- Hey? – croaked a frog. In vain the rabbit ran and asked, always hearing the signal of the hidden frogs. He arrived at the riverbank exhausted, but already found the frog, quiet and serene, waiting for him. The rabbit declared himself defeated.
