After a rumor leaked that a 21 year old actress had given birth to a baby and placed him in adoption, Klara Castanho she decided to speak out through an open letter on her social media accounts.
In the letter she says she is the actress, and that all this happened after she was raped, and because she was not in the psychological condition to give the child everything she deserves, she decided to give it up for adoption. The entire process was carried out with a lawyer, and she relied on the “Law of Adoption” (13.509/2017).

The case was resolved at the Public Prosecutor's Office and the child was handed over as provided by law when the pregnant woman is unable to take custody of the newborn. The same law guarantees the safe delivery of older children, when those responsible are unable to keep them in custody.
The Childhood and Youth Court accompanies the pregnant woman's right to this decision, where she only needs to express her interest and explain the situation for which she wants to give up custody of the child. The law also guarantees absolute secrecy of such process, so that there is no exposure of the person responsible or the child involved.
Justice does not only accept the request of women who have been abused, any woman who manifests the interest in voluntarily surrendering will be heard by a team from the Child Justice and the Youth.
