How criminals use your CPF to apply sexual extortion scams

The internet is a conducive environment for the application of scams, especially with users who do not have much knowledge. Recently, a new extortion practice with CPF by email has emerged, which uses the victims' real ID, making it even easier to believe. The user receives a message informing that there has been a total leak of their data, such as intimate images or personal information.

In this type of scam, criminals send messages to users with their legitimate CPFs in the email title, informing them that they are in default. In the text, users are informed that their devices have been contaminated by malware, and their data, passwords, files, histories and even recordings of the person while accessing adult sites were exposed.

At the end, an amount of money in the form of a cryptocurrencies so that the individual's personal data is not leaked, with threats to friends and family.

These emails also mention the use of a new malware called BrasDex, which was developed to apply scams to financial institutions in Brazil. Now how CPFof the victims, these crimes gain more legitimacy, but they are nothing more than old practices that rely on the use of data leaked from users years ago.

Avoid this type of scam

When you receive this type of message, which normally goes to the Spam box, ignore it. Although it seems true, even more so with the use of your CPF, these messages are nothing more than digital scams. Criminals may even have your CPF and your name, but not the other information or data they claim to have.

So don't worry when you receive threats of exposure about recordings of you in intimate moments. Also, do not perform digital transfers as criminals indicate.

If you suspect there is a problem with malware or viruses on your devices, use scanning and cleaning tools to make sure everything is fine. Also, always keep your antivirus and browsers up to date to avoid falling for this type of scam.

Avoid clicking on links or downloading files that are attached to these suspicious emails, this could be the gateway to malware on your computer or cell phone.
