Portuguese Activity: Text Production

Text production, opinion article, aimed at high school students. Guidelines are presented (step by step) for the production of this text. It is worth remembering the need for the teacher to work, first, the specific characteristics of the genre, so that students can produce it properly. To this end, we suggest the approaches of the articles “I am against the reduction of the legal age of majority” and “Living in society”, published here in the “Portal Acessaber”. It is pertinent to emphasize that the opinion article is the type of text required in the drafting of the highly sought-after National High School Exam (ENEM). Get ready!

Text production - opinion article

Guidelines:

Define the controversial topic on which you will produce your opinion piece. You need to convince the teacher and your classmates of your opinion. To do this, follow these steps:

1º: Find out more about the topic by researching reliable sources. Look for divergent opinions in front of him.

2º: On a scratch sheet, select the arguments that support your opinion and those that oppose it. It should be noted that, in your article, arguments from others must be cited, provided that the mention of authorship, as they confer reliability to the text, demonstrating that research was carried out on the subject matter.

3º: Make your arguments, which need to be consistent. Take a stand on other people's arguments.

4º: Build the text, which must have a minimum of 15 lines and a maximum of 30 lines, with the following structure:

  • Introduction (1st paragraph): introduce the topic and a general comment on it.
  • Development (2nd to penultimate paragraph): develop your argument. Present the authoritative arguments that support your opinion and refute those who contradict it. Start the debate, problematizing the theme. Be sure to present your position on the topic. After all, the article is yours!
  • Conclusion (last paragraph): Reinforce your opinion on the topic.

5º: Create an interesting title for your opinion piece.

6º: Give the text to your teacher or your teacher, who will review it.

7º: Make corrections (if any), clearing the text.

8º: Present the produced article to your classmates. Discuss with them, as divergent opinions are likely.
