Uncle Lucas

Uncle Lucas is so funny, full of ideas, really fun. He wears a white T-shirt, faded jeans, and sneakers too. It was morning. I had finished my homework and found a little orange seed mixed with candy wrapper, piece of chalk, gum, rubber, a bunch of stuff at the bottom of the folder. So I decided to plant in one of the foliage pots that the mother has in the corner of the room. I chose the biggest one, because it had a good piece of land, and I was thinking of how beautiful it would be when the oranges started to ripen; it was just picking, peeling and eating. So, I shouted to the kitchen, for the maid to hear:

– Hey, Palmi, what do you think of growing an orange tree here in the living room?
– You're silly, girl! Just to give a wind, drop the leaves and I have to live sweeping? Not this one!
With that one, I decided not to say anything else, even because the seed was already planted and that's it, I wasn't going to deplant it. Palmira seems to have suspected and came to look closely. But I had smoothed the dirt on top and nothing could be seen.
– If a tree grows there, you know that your mother will have it pulled out! – she said, and went back to the kitchen.
Well, that made my heart ache, because I was already seeing the tree full of navel oranges, beautiful, delicious. Good for us to climb the branches and catch as many as we wanted, and the birds, so we could see up close! The grip grew: never take off! I needed to find a way to convince Palmira, her mother, her father if she was also against it. In these times of convincing big people, one head, as a child, is not enough. If I had a friend to help me invent something well invented...
- A friend! – I spoke aloud, because of my enthusiasm for having and remembered this, and I repeated – A FRIEND!…
And it was just at this moment that a head opened the door to the room and asked:
- Me?!
Before I answered:
– Me who?
The body entered too.
– Uncle Lucas, a friend!
- A friend?!
- He spoke! – he said, putting his hand on his chest and bending his body so that his head rested on his knees.
That's just how Uncle Lucas showed up. The clothes he wore, you already know.
