It is in the outermost layer of the earth's surface, called the soil, that plants develop. When soil is contaminated, both underground waterways and plants can be poisoned.
The main pollutants in the soil are chemicals used in agriculture. They serve to destroy pests and weeds, but they also cause serious environmental damage.
Waste produced by factories and homes can also pollute the soil. Batteries and batteries thrown away, for example, release toxic and corrosive liquids. In landfills, where waste from cities is dumped, the decomposition of organic matter generates a dark and dark liquid. foul odor called leachate, which penetrates the soil and contaminates even water courses that pass well below the surface.
