On the 3rd, 4th, 17th and 18th of August, the show “We”, by Cia. Barracão Cultural, will hold free sessions in public parks in São Paulo. The play is a free adaptation of the homonymous work by Eva Furnari, which tells the story of Mel, a girl who had knots all over her body and couldn't cry!
Born from a moldy cabbage, in little Pamongas, Mel was surrounded by butterflies and was a source of much ridicule on the part of the 'normal' inhabitants there. One day, after holding back the sadness and crying for a long time – which did not fall even when peeling onions, the girl ended up with her body full of knots, one tighter than the other.
Mel then decided to leave Pamongas, he wanted to go to a distant place and for that he disguised himself as a refrigerator. Along the way, she was amazed at how much she still didn't know about. It took five knots for her to venture out. The more she experienced this journey, the more her knots loosened and unraveled, until Mel found someone she could trust. She arrived in a city where everyone had their own knot and nobody cared about it.
Using fantastic realism to tell the story, Eva Furnari tackles sensitive and controversial issues in an objective and playful way, proposing a reflection on diversity, intolerance, respect and alterity.
