Why are statues not painted?

There are statues of various materials, and some can be painted, yes!

The painting depends on the creativity of the statue's author. Some prefer to paint it and others leave it with nothing.

The material used is also taken into account, as bronze, stone and marble generally do not take paint.

On the other hand, works made of clay or wood can be painted. Also, many public monuments are not colored for ease of maintenance.

Imagine the work it would take to take care of painting all the statues and sculptures that are exposed to the wind, sun and rain!
