On July 12 of this year, the National Congress approved a law that establishes the value of the minimum wage and pensions for 2023, called the Budgetary Guidelines Law (LDO). Initially, the amount would be R$ 1,294, but it should change due to the increase in inflation, reaching the value of R$ 1,302. For this, the Ministry of Economy carried out a new calculation in the National Consumer Price Index (INPC), which exceeded almost 1% of the government's forecast. See more below.

In general, the rules and changes of the National Institute of Social Security (INSS) generate some doubts, especially among retirees. In this case, due to the changes made by LDO, in addition to the new floor, even the rules to get the benefits have been changed, with significant changes in relation to retirement by minimum age, progressive age and points.
With the rise in inflation, it is possible to monitor several federal government measures to reduce the impact of price fluctuations on workers' pockets, as well as retirees. To begin with, as no benefit paid by the INSS can be lower than the minimum wage, all policyholders who currently receive R$ 1,212 (the current minimum wage), will have the readjustment to R$ 1,302 in 2023. In the case of those who receive more than that, they should consider 7.41% of inflation in the recalculation.
However, it is important to understand that these are just predictions, as the real value of the new minimum wage will only be announced in January 2023. After all, a survey by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) is needed on the rise in product prices by the end of 2022. According to economists, there may be a reduction in these values, as some measures, such as the Tax on Circulation of Goods and Services (ICMS), should reduce the cost of some items essential.
