Brazilians are increasingly encountering the effects of climate changes. In the early hours of this Monday (6), Rio de Janeiro experienced the invasion of sea waters in the most upscale neighborhoods on the edge of the South Zone, in the neighborhoods of Leblon and Ipanema. In São Paulo, São Paulo residents are heading into the fifth day of the electricity crisis due to exceptional winds.

While the rivers in the Amazon decrease in an unprecedented way, the southern region of the country records repeated and practically constant floods. Faced with this situation, Brazilians are increasingly frightened by climate change.
According to climate experts, the conditions are effects of El Niño, a phenomenon that has been operating in the country since the beginning of the year. However, the same professionals state that the entire condition is more serious and intense due to climate change. Contrary to what was thought, that it would be necessary to protect against rising sea levels or of extreme rains and droughts, Brazilians are seeing both situations happen at the same time time.
Instead of increasing political measures that protect the environment and ensure the future of humanity, the National Congress is studying whether or not the Atlantic Forest should be protected. Furthermore, the expansion of the use of more pesticides and other projects that risk the protection of Amazon.
With each passing day, it is possible to notice changes in the environment and climate not only in the country, but throughout the world. The time has come for Brazil to start thinking about emergency and protection measures. Among them is the preparation of urban spaces, mitigation policies or even adaptation to the irreversible effects of climate change.
