The main novelty in the new issuance of the RG is around the unification of the document. After all, after this change we now have only one official registration number, which is our CPF number. With that, there is no longer any need to memorize the CPF and RG number, as there will be only one identification that will serve for all demands.
In addition, there will be the possibility of using an authenticated digital copy, that is, which will have the same validity as the official document. This is because the new RG will come with the QR Code, and any public agent will be able to check the veracity of the registration even if it is offline. This change allows citizens to choose to take the physical document or not.
Finally, people will also be able to choose to add other important information to the sign-in sheet. Such as the blood type that the person has, if the person is an organ donor, in addition to the NIS number and social name. All this to ensure that the document is as complete as possible.
As we mentioned, the new documentation is now available to anyone who wants to issue it, and anyone who currently registers will receive this model. However, the change is not yet mandatory, although this is the official model of identification today.
In the case of children up to 12 years old, the document is still valid for up to 5 years. As for people between 13 and 60 years old, they will have up to 10 years to complete the process and have their identity within the standards. As for those over 60 years old, the old documentation will remain valid indefinitely.
