Parents are fundamental figures in the development of children's self-esteem and self-confidence, especially when it comes to studies. As learning math can be challenging for many children, we've listed some tips to help parents on that journey.

Simple is better: start with the basics

Adding, subtracting and counting numbers are the first steps parents can take to teach their kids math. Use creativity and everyday objects to exemplify in a simple way. For example, addition with coins, tokens or even fruits.

Make use of methods responsible for developing mathematical skills

Mathematics learning does not only occur in traditional teaching. For example, games responsible for developing logical-mathematical skills can be included in the child's learning routine. Board games are good indications, but you can use creativity and create your own fun.

A mistake is just a mistake: don't worry about them

Every mistake is a path to learning. Don't be rigid with your child's mistakes and let him make them as many times as necessary. It is important that the child has independence in learning. Then re-teach the content and encourage your child to try again.

Apply mathematics in the child's daily life

Helping to count the items bought at the supermarket, calculate the total amount spent on leisure time or even count how many plates, cutlery and glasses you have at home. All of these are attitudes to incorporate mathematics into children's daily lives.

Be patient

Learning a new skill takes time. So be patient with your children's progress and let them learn at their own pace and pace. Remember to insert the practice into everyday life, so the frequency will be greater.

Add math as a play object when reading to children

Many parents have the habit of reading to their children at night. This is an excellent time to add mathematical concepts or even read children's books with this theme.
