But did you know there are states in Brazil that have their own minimum wage value and that do not follow the basis provided by the Federal Government? Find out in this article what these places are!
On January 1, 2022, the new value of BRL 1,212.00 of the minimum wage began to take effect. This new amount was adjusted based on the National Consumer Price Index (INPC) and the estimate of inflation by the Ministry of Economy.
Thus, until the year 2021, the minimum wage was R$ 1,100.00 and with the corrections for this year there was an increase of 10.18% or R$ 112.00. The remuneration for a day of service is BRL 40.40 and for an hour it is BRL 5.51.
However, most Brazilian states strictly follow the value stipulated by the Federal Government. However, some regions escape the rule and adopt their own wage floor, higher than the national amount, check below.
Paraná is one of the states with the highest minimum wage. The minimum wage in the region was R$ 1,467.40 to R$ 1,696.20 and now the projection is from R$ 1,600.00 to R$ 1,870.00.
Rio Grande do Sul is the only state that has already established the minimum wage for 2022. It went from R$ 1,305.46 to R$ 1,654.50.
In Santa Catarina, the wage floor is around R$ 1,281.00 to R$ 1,467.00, but the state will still define in March 2022 what will be the minimum amount to be paid to workers.
Although Rio de Janeiro has not yet established the minimum wage for 2022, the minimum wage in the region is currently in the range of R$1,238.11 to R$3,158.96.
In São Paulo the situation is a little different. The state has not made changes to the salary floor since 2019, the value is between R$ 1,163.55 to R$ 1,183.00 and it has not yet been defined whether there will be a change for this year 2022.
