The araticum (scientific name Annona crassiflora) is a characteristic plant of the Cerrado. It usually occurs in dry, sandy areas. It can reach between four and eight meters in height. Slow growing, it usually bears fruit when it reaches two meters.
________ a well known and much appreciated fruit. Depending on the region, it takes the name of pine cone, ata, marolo, countess, bruto, black-head, among others. The name araticum is derived from Tupi and means “hard and hard tree, fruit of the sky, tasty, or soft fruit”, since its pulp is white, viscous and soft when ripe.
