In February 2022, the queue for receiving the Auxílio Brasil had more than one million families, according to a study carried out and published by the National Confederation of Municipalities (CNM). In January, the number corresponded to less than half of what was registered in February, with 434,421 families expecting to receive the benefit.

The queue is made up of families who have met the requirements and have an active registration in the Single Registry (CadÚnico), and have been excluded from the benefit. These families correspond to approximately 2,043,889 people.
The federal government announced Auxílio Brasil in 2021 with the aim of replacing Bolsa Família, which was a creation of the PT government. President Jair Bolsonaro is seeking to boost his popularity this election year through the program. On the launch date, it was announced that the benefit would increase from R$224 to R$400.
The federal government claims that the queue was zeroed in December last year. João Roma, Minister of Citizenship, said at the time that “if now in January or February new people register and are eligible, the benefit will be granted and we will continue to clear the queue”.
However, the survey carried out by CNM states that the program queue was never reset, however, the study does not contain official data for the month of December. In November, the queue was composed of 3.18 million families. In January, when the program had already been baptized as Auxílio Brasil, we had an 86.4% reduction in the total number of families waiting for the benefit.
The aid is intended for families who are in extreme poverty and poverty. In March, the government readjusted income ranges, which are the criteria for defining a family's situation. The values were readjusted from R$ 100 to R$ 105 per person for those families that are in situation of poverty, and for those who are in extreme poverty, the value was readjusted from R$ 200 to R$ 210.
In February, the region with the most families in the queue was the Southeast, which had a total of 422,000, about 40% of the total. Check the number of families in line by region:
