Without IPVA: Discover 7 cars that will be exempt from the tax in 2022

As soon as November and December arrive, vehicle owners are already beginning to worry about the Motor Vehicle Ownership Tax (IPVA). This is because, despite varying from state to state, the tribute is generally charged at the beginning of the year.

However, there is a light at the end of the tunnel. What happens is owners of certain vehicles can acquire free IPVA. The rules that make this advantage possible change according to the state, however, in general, the car's manufacturing time is considered.

In short, the term can be 10, 15 or even 20 years, depending on the federative unit.

Vehicles exempt from IPVA 2022

Find out below which cars will not need to pay IPVA from next year:

• Vehicles with 10 or more years of manufacture: Acre, Rio Grande do Norte and Roraima.
• Vehicles with 15 or more years of manufacture:

  Amapá, Amazonas, Bahia, Ceará, Federal District, Espírito Santo, Goiás, Maranhão, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Pará, Paraíba, Piauí, Rio de Janeiro, Rondônia, Sergipe and Tocantins.
• Vehicles with 20 or more years of manufacture: Alagoas, Paraná Rio Grande do Sul and São Paulo.
• Vehicles manufactured before 1985: Santa Catarina.

Some examples of vehicles with this manufacturing time are:

• 10 years of manufacture: Fiat Punto 2011 and Troller T4 2010;
• 15 years of manufacture: 2006 Toyota Corolla, 2005 Ford F250 and 2006 Chevrolet Blazer;
• 20 years of manufacture: Audi A3 2000 and Honda Civic 2001.

In addition to the manufacturing time, people with disabilities (PcD) also guarantee exemption from IPVA. It is enough for the driver in this condition to go to the DMV to request the release of the tax.
