Read:

"BEST OF HAGAR THE HORRIBLE, O - V.4" – Author of the book: Dik Browne

The adventures of the barbarian warrior reach the fourth volume with a lot of fun and the intelligent humor that consecrated Dik Browne, the great creator. The funny comic strips of the Viking family go back to a time when men left their homes to explore the world, and a day's work literally meant another battle.

Hagar, a fat, bearded Viking, always in his Nordic helmet with horns (in a strip from the book Helga, his wife, says he never saw the ears from her husband!) has the same concerns as a modern man: he needs to take care of the family, beat his opponents and, just to make matters worse, he is above the Weight. But Hagar lives his daily life with a lot of humor, always in the company of his family who, even a Viking, end up being funny because they seem so normal.

The woman, Helga, insists that her husband lose weight. The daughter, Honi, is of marriageable age and has difficulty finding a suitor who pleases her and her father. Lastly, Hamlet, the youngest, is constantly criticized because he is always reading and, to everyone's amazement, he doesn't want to be a barbarian, but rather a dentist.

Dik Browne (1917-1989) was inspired by himself to create Hagar. Like the character, he cultivated a vast red beard and had the same hefty measurements. He tried a career as a reporter, but it didn't work. That's when he discovered his talent for drawing. Hagar debuted in American newspapers in 1973 and is still alive today at the hands of Dik's son Chris.
