The poor grasshopper was very unhappy. Really, there was no lack of reasons for that, for he was born with one leg shorter than the other, and could not jump like the other locusts. So he spent his whole days crying and whining.
Great was the pain of his friends, relatives and neighbors to see the locust so disconsolate. Everyone tried to cheer him up, telling him stories and telling him philosophical phrases. But of course, what the grasshopper really wanted was to jump.
One day, a cricket and a caterpillar, friends of the locust, were walking through the woods. In this, they saw two cockroaches that had found some abandoned springs. The two were playing with them, taking bigger and bigger leaps.
Cricket and caterpillar had the same idea instantly. They ran together to the grasshopper, their friend, taking one of the springs with them.
"Here, here's something that will solve your problem!" Walk, try it! said the cricket.
At first the grasshopper had his doubts, because he didn't quite know how to use the spring. But with time and a lot of training, he got to do much more spectacular jumps than his fellow locusts.
The grasshopper was overflowing with joy. He had managed to solve his problem, thanks to the good friends he had.
