The colored part of the eyes is called the iris. The iris can be a variety of colors from very dark brown to lighter blue.
And do you know why there are so many colors? What determines eye color is the type and amount of a substance called melanin. The more melanin we have in the iris, the darker it is. And if we have little melanin, the eye is clearer!
And have you ever noticed that when we look into a person's eyes, we notice that in the middle of the iris there is a black circle? This circle is the pupil, it controls the entry of light into our eyes so that we can see.
