the bald and the fly

It was a hot summer day, a bald man sat down to rest. He was pestered by a small fly, which buzzed over his bald head. The man tried to kill the fly. He aimed a slap at his little enemy, but unfortunately his palm landed right on his head! And so it happened several times.
The fly persisted in tormenting the poor bald man and the insistent man kept slapping himself! Before long, the bald man learned his lesson: he decided not to try to kill the fly anymore. Instead, he proceeded to ignore the little fly.

He chose not to care about life's little irritations. He had learned that by chasing after life's little annoyances, he could be liable to get hurt!
