João and José, two old friends who liked to fish, compared their sporting feats; as always, one looking to outdo the other.
"The other day I caught a catfish," said Joao, "and you don't care, it was the biggest catfish that mortal eyes have ever seen." It weighed at least two hundred pounds.
"That's nothing," replied Joseph. "I was fishing the other day, and guess what came hanging on my hook?" A ship's lamp, with a date engraved on it: A. D. 1392! Just imagine: a hundred years before the discovery of America by Christopher Columbus. And not only that: inside the lamp there was a light, and it was still on!
John looked into Joseph's face and was silent for a moment. But then he smiled and said:
