Learn how to do a reading project at school, to encourage your students, recommended for early grades of elementary school.
TIME TO READ READING PROJECT
This project was developed in a literacy class, but it can be adapted to any grade of elementary school.
My concern was focused on family participation, I began to wonder what I could do so that my little ones had contact with reading outside of school. I know that although the teacher is a reference in the child's life, he alone probably cannot sustain the love of reading, after all, if he reads, but at home there is no such reality, reading can be seen as an obligation only for the school, so I drew up this project, proposed the a workshop
of presentation for parents, taking into account the difficulty that many could present (there are illiterate parents), he proposed that if if they knew how to read, they could ask an older child, or a neighbor, in the workshop I developed an activity with reading pictures and asking what case necessary to carry out this type of reading for their children, after all, all the books used were carefully selected, foreseeing this difficulty.
And when the students received the bag for the 1st time (I made it with TNT and decorated it with an old CD forming a clock using colored glue I chose the clock because the name of the project was TIME DE TO READ).
Wow!, it was necessary to see the contentment of the little ones! There were students who during the course of the project wanted to take a book every day. To my surprise, there were even parents who went to school, they wanted to study to better read to their children.
Of course not everything is flowers, there are always some that do not meet our expectations, but believe me, thanks! was worth so much that I intend to continue the project.

The awakening of passion for books: A quest for literacy.
SUB TOPIC It's time to read.
PROBLEM To be literate today, the subject needs to be able to meet the demands of reading and writing increasingly diversified and sophisticated. Hence, how can the school contribute to the contact and formation of the reader – literate? Can the school and family partnership make literacy happen without losing sight of the formation of passionate readers?
JUSTIFICATION The concern with the development of knowledge is justified by the indispensable contribution that reading practices assume since childhood in the formation of readers. For Feud Linard “in a country punished by illiteracy, projects to encourage reading are more than welcome: they are fundamental”. Therefore, the challenge is to work with children from Kindergarten the pleasure of reading while still in the literacy phase. Therefore, the partnership between school and family is viable, which together can accelerate the literacy process of our children and arouse the passion for books. This project is based on Vygostsky's story that, for him, in addition to real development, it encompasses the activities that the child is capable of performing. autonomously, there is the level of potential development, which includes the activities she is able to carry out through the collaboration of an adult or peers. more capable. Between both zones, there is a third zone, called proximal development, which, he postulates, this is where good teaching should focus, unveiling the paths through which child development can follow.
MAIN GOAL
•Integrating family and school in the process of developing reading skills, abandoning the taste, pleasure and interest in reading through the completion of Tempo de Ler.
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES
• Involve the family in reading practices;
• Put the student in contact with various books;
•Develop the student's verbal language;
•Rescue the family's attention to the child;
•Motivate the student to want to read;
•Develop a passion for books;
•Promote the approximation of student, school and family;
• Meet the current demand to train readers passionate about the act of reading;
METHODOLOGY Initially, there will be a presentation workshop for the family, putting it in line with the project proposal.
The following activities will be carried out in the classroom, based on the reading of a type of text each week/class and, from which all the proposed work in the classroom will lead.
The reading done in the classroom can vary between: Informative Texts, Bibles, poetry, parlendas, jokes, stories, songs, string verses, children's stories, recipes, listings, labels, etc.
Parallel to the teacher's work in the classroom, on Fridays, each student will take a book in a decorated bag, which should be read in the family and, on returning to school, the student must transmit to his/her colleagues the experience of the Time of Reading, recounting the story.
Monthly parents will fill out a project monitoring form.

Tips: How to assemble a project?
How to assemble a project
Author of the text: Andreza Melo Menezes
Pedagogue
Every day I receive emails with questions about how to set up a project.
In fact there are a sequence of procedures that cannot be missing, here I will try to explain the project step by step in my own words. Remembering that every school institution must have a project developed according to the needs and educational and social context that surrounds them. A project must be consistent with the reality of the clientele, and reach their goals and pedagogical proposals.
But every project can work?
No, not every project develops as we want, it depends a lot on the whole, a project to have a positive result requires study, research, dedication of a team, the teacher, the advisor, the
coordinator, principal, student and family. It is possible that a project is developed by the school and only some classes stand out in their goals, that it often happens due to lack of support, integration and knowledge of the school team, with the teacher and their students.
Can we carry out a project together with another?
Yes, of course we can. I can develop in my school a socialization project between school and family during the school year and work other projects that contemplate the commemorative dates, seasons of the year, and other themes that are pertinent to the curriculum school.
An educational project usually has these requirements:
1 - Title
2 – Duration of the project
3 – Justification
4 – Objectives (general and specific)
5 – Culmination
6 – Methodology or methodological procedures
7 – Evaluation
8 – Attachments or activities to be developed
1 - Title:
The project title is where we will put our idea, it can be based on a commemorative date, an event, attitudes or qualities. Depending on the chosen title, we may or may not immediately arouse the attention of our surroundings.
Example:
In circus week I can create a simple title like:
The Circus or Knowing the magical world of the circus.
The two themes deal with the same project, but the second theme gives us an overview of how this project will be developed.
2 – Duration of the project:
How long will this project last? The project duration can be relative, it can last a day, a week, a month, a bimester, a quarter, a semester or even an academic year.
3 – Justification:
The justification serves as an "introduction", in it you will report the reasons for developing this project at school, where the idea came from, what it did If the school wants to deal with this topic, you can put the historical or literary part (if convenient), your wishes and concerns about the perspectives of the project. Remember, you don't need to write a whole sheet, it's unnecessary, I suggest 05 to 10 lines for the justification.
4 – General and specific objectives:
Some projects have general and specific goals or just specific goals.
The general objective is the main focus of the project, it must start with a verb, which always ends in ar, er or ir, and must have only one verb, avoid repeating verbs in different endings.
Example of general objective:
– Knowing the circus universe.
See another example of an objective that takes two verbs:
– Know and understand the circus universe.
You see, two verbs with the same goal create a duality that is unfounded, unnecessarily, since the verbs convey the same idea.
In the general objectives we must be very careful when choosing them, it is not good to put too many objects, as it will create a lot of coverage. ideas, depending on the duration of the project, there may not be time to complete it on time, ideally there are three to five goals. The projects that I elaborate generally range from three to four and rarely reach five, see examples of verbs I can put in the project:
Know, learn, do, understand, integrate, interact, socialize...
5 - Culmination:
See here the meaning of culmination:
The highest.
High point, it is said of the highest part of a thing: the summit of Mont Blanc is the high point of the Alps.
Fig. The highest possible degree: the culmination of glory.
Point in the sky where a star reaches its highest elevation above the horizon.
The culmination of a project is just that, it's its completion, it's closing, closing.
In my project, the culmination for the project in which I gave an example can be:
Presentation of a magic and theater show with teachers for the children or if it is a project for Mother's Day I can close with: A tea for mothers with children's presentation, or if it's a science project, I can choose: a science fair with curiosities and works carried out by the students.
6 – Methodology or methodological procedures
What is methodology?
Part of a science that studies the methods to which it is linked or used: linguistic methodology.
Not all projects have methodology or methodological procedures, because as the activities it is each teacher who chooses and develops, depending on the procedures to be produced in the project, it ends up leaving the teacher limited to that. But the methodology brings the way in which the teacher can introduce the topic in the classroom, where will bring details of how the teacher will be working on the project theme of applying their activities.
7 – Evaluation:
How are we going to assess students in the classroom during the process of developing their activities?
The assessment can be qualitative and/or quantitative.
Qualitative assessment is the degree of acquisitions such as socialization, interaction, participation and knowledge that the student will have with the activities and with their peers during the activities.
Quantitative assessment is usually done by accumulating grades.
In social projects and early childhood education projects, the assessment is carried out in a qualitative way;
Example:
The evaluation will be done in a qualitative way, where the teacher can be evaluating their students accordingly. with your interest in activities, participation, interaction and socialization with your colleagues and teachers.
If it is quantitative, it can be written like this:
During the development of the project work, presentations, review of notebooks, evaluation tests will be done. A sum of these activities will be done and the result will have to reach a maximum of 100 (or 10, depending on the region), we will be able to add grades according to the behavior and participation in the classroom, this being at the discretion of the teacher.
Depending on the project, it may have a qualitative and quantitative assessment.
8 – Attachments or activities to be developed
The attachments or activities to be developed are suggestions for activities that teachers can apply with their students, remembering that we talk about suggestions, the teacher may or may not take advantage of the activities, but generally these attachments are of great value because as the teacher they don't have enough time or tools to elaborate their activities, they take advantage of these activities to complement the goals of the project.
Note: The activities must be consistent with the project objectives.
Ready! I hope you enjoy these brief explanations on how to set up a project and be able to elaborate yours. I hope you enjoyed this post on how to do a reading project.
