Despite the lack of official confirmation, the possibility of Netflix launching a most affordable plan linked to advertising it is very real, and is expected to happen before the end of this year. The entry of advertising is a major paradigm shift for the company, which had established that it would never do this.
However, market results convinced the company that it would be necessary to change its commercial approach and strategy. The new plans are, in this sense, a response to a loss of 200,000 workers in the first quarter of 2022 (compared to the fourth quarter of last year), the biggest loss of workers in ten years.
Furthermore, the prospects are even worse, as the company expects to lose another 2 million subscriptions in the coming months. According to analysts, the high cost of current subscriptions and the rapid increase of competitors (HBO Max, Amazon Prime Video, Hulu, Disney+, Paramount+, Star+ and a few others) are among the reasons for the drop in subscriptions.
