There's a solid lineup of confirmed horror titles to come our eyes between now, next year and beyond. There is much more to come that is not yet on the calendar. Check out upcoming horror movies here:
We are especially looking forward to the return of the Scream franchise in 2022. Scream 5 will feature all of our favorite original cast members, including Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox and David Arquette, along with some new faces like Jack Quaid, Dylan Minnette and Jenna Ortega de You. Bring them to Ghostface!
2009's Orphan was one of the most shocking horror films of recent years, and soon the story will be expanded with a prequel film. The film will once again star Isabelle Fuhrman, with Julia Stiles and Hiro Kanagawa joining the main cast this time around.
Although Fuhrman is now 24 years old, the production is using movie magic to make her look like a kid again. The upcoming prequel was constructed by the original writers and helmed by The Devil Inside and The Boy director William Brent Bell.
Director Deon Taylor has consistently made films such as Fatale, Black and Blue and The Intruder. The filmmaker returned to horror for a film called Fear. It will be about some unknown characters who get away for a celebratory weekend until it turns into a "nightmare" when a contagious threat in the air ruins things. The film's cast includes TI, Andrew Bachelor and Joseph Sikora.
One of the most famous horror mainstays is the Texas Chainsaw Massacre movies and the franchise is returning to Netflix. The film will be helmed by a new and talented director from a screenplay by Chris Thomas Devlin and a story that Don't Breathe's Fede Álvarez helped create. The film's cast includes Elsie Fisher and Alice Krige. The film going straight to Netflix will be a direct sequel to the original 1974 film.
This supernatural horror film follows a 25-year-old nun who believes performing exorcisms is her higher calling. Unfortunately for her, the sisters are not allowed to run them herself.
She decides to take her desires into her own hands when she finds someone to exorcise, but ends up facing a demonic force with mysterious ties to her own past. Jacqueline Byers, Virginia Madsen and Ben Cross star in this terrifying film set to be released earlier this year.
Irish filmmaker Jon Wright is bringing the haunts to his region with Undesirable. Hannah John-Kamen of Ant-Man and the Wasp and Douglas Booth of Pride, Prejudice and Zombies star as Londoners who decide to escape city life for rural Ireland. However, in the forests that surround them lurk murderous goblins and so on. Undesirable looks like a fun but scary horror movie for our spring screening.
Sony's webmaster franchise is growing beyond Venom with the release of Morbius starring Jared Leto. The film based on the villain Spider-Man will tell the story of scientist Michael Morbius (Leto), who finds the cure for his rare blood disease that leads him to become a vampire.
The second movie Sony has made focusing exclusively on a Spidey villain will also star Matt Smith, Tyrese Gibson and Michael Keaton, who may be connecting the franchise to Tom Holland's Spider-Man universe in the MCU.
Sinister filmmakers Scott Derrickson and C. Robert Cargill teamed up to adapt Joe Hill's 2004 short story The Black Phone. The film will be about a boy named Finney Shaw who is kidnapped by a serial killer (Hawke) in a soundproof basement. While trapped, he finds a disconnected phone where he can stream the voices of the killer's previous victims, who try to help him escape his fate.
Since the release of Get Out in 2017, Jordan Peele has established himself as a favorite name in the horror genre and is set to return for an original film called No. The film follows 2019's Us and stars Daniel Kaluuya, Keke Palmer, and Steven Yeun. We have no idea what the movie is about at this point, but the poster includes a huge cloud with a kite tail hanging above an illuminated city.
