new bills

Contrary to what many imagine, the new banknotes with the face of King Charles III should still take a while to be manufactured. However, a change is planned for this week: the exchange of ballots in order to change their material.

Printed cash was previously made of paper, however, from the next 30th, only new bills made of plastic will be accepted. Such a model is already used by Canada, which manages to be a great reference for the United Kingdom.

benefits of change

With the new banknote, the material allows for better reliability, after all, these banknotes are much more difficult to counterfeit. In addition, the banknotes will be more durable and resistant to temperature changes, a problem that has been much faced there lately.

Exchanging old notes

To obtain the new banknotes, Britons can exchange paper notes for plastic ones at Bank of England headquarters or send them through the post office. In addition, another option is to deposit the amounts in their bank accounts before the deadline, so that when they withdraw later, the new notes will already be delivered.

Plastic banknotes in Brazil

Those who are older or have a good memory remember the plastic bills implemented in Brazil. In 2000, with the aim of honoring the arrival of the Portuguese in Brazil, 10 reais banknotes in plastic material entered into circulation. However, due to the high cost, they stopped being produced and nowadays it is very rare to see one of them, therefore, such notes are expensive for collectors.
