Netflix has made available in its catalog one of the most famous suspense and horror titles. The film is not the newest, it dates back to the late 1990s. More precisely, the feature premiered in 1998. It is the movie starring Jared Leto, “Urban Legend”.
High school student Natalie finds her community ravaged by a series of sadistic crimes inspired by urban legends. When she decides to investigate the murder of a college student by a psychopathic professor.
The case took place more than 20 years ago and she, unintentionally, ends up on a collision course with the killer.
At the time, the film was well received by critics. The approval rating, however, was only 20% on Rotten Tomatoes.
Actress Alicia Witt, on the other hand, received a Saturn Award nomination. The nominated category was Best Performance by a Young Actor or Actress. The title was awarded by the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films.[citation needed]
The film earned a total of $72.5 million. There were US$ 38.1 million accumulated in the United States and US$ 34.4 million abroad. The amount was well over budget, equivalent to US$ 14 million.
