Yeah, several iPhone users reported that Instagram was “muted” after updating to iOS 15. The problem appears when using the app's stories. Both Apple and Facebook have not issued any note on the subject.
Overall, the bug seems to be related to Instagram only. Apps like Youtube, Snapchat and TikTok continue to operate with audio normally.
Although the companies responsible for the iPhone and the social network are silent, there are solutions. Internet users themselves found ways to circumvent the failure in the audio of the stories.
One of the ways pointed out to solve the defect after the iOS update is quite simple. The user just needs to turn off the iPhone's silent mode using the button located on the side of the device. The action solved the problem in the vast majority of cases reported on Twitter, for example.
If the problem still persists, there are other outputs that can be tested. Some users advise to activate the sound of the publications in the feed to activate the one of the stories. Since in this way, the active audio configuration becomes valid for all platform resources.
Another method is to check the version of Instagram installed on your phone. If necessary, update the app and restart the device to test the audio again. By the way, the procedures can be done on iPad, as the bug was also reported on iPadOS 15.
There are reports, including similar problems in iOS 15.1. Even in the testing phase, users found the audio device to be faulty. For now, Apple has not revealed any repair updates, but an official note should be issued soon.
