According to an article made by the BBC, the tradition may have come from a version of religious history in which a rabbit would have been trapped in the open tomb of Jesus. That way, he would have been the first to witness the resurrection, becoming the symbol of the date, bringing with him the good news.

Another possible origin story for eggs on that date is related to older peoples, such as the Persians, who saw the egg as a symbol of rebirth.

Countries like Ukraine and China associated food with life even before Christianity, traditions ranged from the creation of the world to the celebration of the end of winter. However, they didn't eat chocolate eggs, they painted chicken eggs.

Still according to the stories, the chocolate egg as we know it today is derived from a tradition that started in France in the 12th century, with the return of Louis VII from the Crusades. That's because, upon arriving, he was received with a party and with many products from the lands that were explored, including eggs. The date of the festivities coincided with the fast of Lent.

According to data from the Brazilian Association of the Chocolate, Peanut and Candy Industry (Abicab), Easter 2022 sold more than 10 thousand tons of eggs in Brazil. For this year, expectations are higher. That's because 440 Easter items will be placed on the market by the industry, with 163 launches.

Whether traditional milk chocolate, coxinha eggs, sushi, pie, pudding, stuffed, truffled or fruit, the ordering season is now open. And you, have you bought yours yet?
