The average lifespan of each period depends on the historical events in which a given people were located. For example, people who did not have minimum sanitation conditions possibly faced several diseases that shortened their lifespan. Another point is the existence of wars and the number of deaths in clashes.
For this reason, it is difficult to say with certainty how long someone could live in a given region. Some studies are based on the evaluation of bodies, fossils and objects found in excavations. However, the conclusion is generally given based on findings from different periods, which does not establish precision.
The concept of lifespan is given according to the number of years that a given person has lived. These are specific cases that correspond to only one person. Like the case of the woman who lived the longest over the years, documented by the Guinness Book of Records. She is originally from France, her name is Jeanne Louise Calment and she lived to be 122 years old.
In contrast, expectation calculates an average of the times lived by humans. Usually the person who performs this analysis is the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics. The most current surveys show that the average lifespan of Brazilians is 77 years.
With regard to the oldest peoples, according to the results of some surveys, life expectancy only exceeded 30 years, more or less 30,000 years ago. This highlights that our ancestors did not live for many years, certainly due to the conditions of life on the planet and the adaptation of each of the groups.
