One of the biggest problems in Brazil is still offering Basic Sanitation for the neediest population. This problem has a direct impact on public health, the environment, the economy and the Human Development Index (HDI) of the country.
According to a study by the National Information System (SNIS), released in January 2017, based on data from 2015, half of the Brazilian population (50.3%) has access to sewage collection. Which means that more than 100 million Brazilians still deal with sewage evictions in an alternative way.
