The badger was an artist who made ornamental objects. In his work, he only used buttons and wires. He lived humbly but joyfully.
- I have a job that I like, and although I'm not rich, I earn enough to live with dignity. What more can I ask for? he said, smiling.
It was customary to form a circle of onlookers around his little trinket shop. There were even those who spent entire hours contemplating the badger's virtuous work.
His Majesty the Lion, King of the Jungles, announced his desire to offer his wife a valuable and above all original object. He would offer great riches and honors to anyone who presented him with something worthy of such qualifications.
The badger then made a wonderful bead necklace. When he introduced it to the king, he was very impressed by the shine that emanated from the jewel, and he bought it, very pleased.
The king of the jungles offered the badger many gold coins. But the latter told him, in all modesty:
- I do not need so much riches, Your Majesty. I need a lot less for my survival. My work is my greatest reward.
You might ask: how could a simple beaded necklace glow so brightly? It was the love the badger put into the work he did, that shone on the necklace. Hence his infinite value and the enthusiasm that the queen showed when she saw him.
