Our skin can be lighter or darker, due to a substance called melanin, which is produced by the cells that exist there. Spots are places where melanin has accumulated. It's as if you paint a sheet of paper in one color, but after that you drop paint splatters in some spots.
Some spots you already have from birth. Others appear over time. Some environmental factors, such as the sun's rays, facilitate the formation of new spots. Have you ever noticed that, in general, older people have more spots? It's because they've been in the sun for much longer than you.
There are several types of spots. For example, there are those that are smooth or those that look like a bunch. In addition to moles, there are freckles, which are usually lighter and more visible in people with very white skin. This type of spot is inherited from the parents through DNA. In general, a person can only have freckles if at least one parent does. But children of parents with freckles can be born without that kind of spot.
You really have to worry about a mole, if it starts to grow a lot or suddenly changes its appearance. At these times it may be important to see a doctor. Other than that, a pint can even give it a special charm!
