The cat and the fox were running around the world. They were great friends, even though the fox was always belittling his friend.
"After all, cat friend, why don't you learn more tricks to escape the dogs that chase us?" I've always heard you're very smart. Is it true?
"I know how to climb trees quickly, that's enough for me." said the cat. I live very well like this. Dogs will never catch me.
The fox gave a sly smile:
"Do you just know this?" Because I know 99 different tricks! I know a thousand tricks, each one better than the other. I pretend to be dead, I hide in the dry leaves, in the bushes, I run in a zigzag, I disguise my footprints, I know how to hide behind trees...
She would continue to list all her tricks if she didn't hear a pack of dogs coming. The cat, more than quickly, climbed the nearest tree.
The fox, pursued at close range, began to practice all his fancy tricks… But all was in vain. The dogs eventually caught up with her.
And from the top of the tree, very safe, the cat thought:
"Poor fox godmother!" It is always better to know one thing well than to know 99 different things badly. I always distrusted complicated strategies. The best solution to a problem may be the simplest.
