Classified as "critically endangered" of extinction by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and by the ICMBio, the tamarin (
Funded by a public notice for the Manaus Prize for Cultural Connections, the book is the first literary work on the "saim-de-coleira", animal that suffers from threats, ranging from the risk of being run over in the center of Manaus to competition with the yellow-tailed marmoset (Saguinus midas) in more remote areas. Throughout the narrative, the young readers learn together with the characters about the Amazon Forest, protected areas and the consequences of human actions in nature.
The book also has a part dedicated especially for parents and teachers with suggestions for activities, for be carried out with the children, which encourage reflection on the care for the environment and the habit of reading.
The authors also created a virtual platform to guarantee free access to the book and a book trailer, with information about the tauim and even the sounds produced by this charismatic primate.
