First, the government estimates that around 40 million workers will receive the benefit with this new release. In this context, the measure is part of the project to re-election and boost the economy, led by the Minister of Economy, Paulo Guedes.
Therefore, this will be the third time that the government allows the withdrawal of FGTS accounts. In addition, in 2019, the government released active and inactive amounts from the Fund. Already this year, amounts of up to R$ 500.00 were released from inactive accounts for workers.
In 2020, the height of the pandemic, withdrawals of up to R$ 1,045.00 were released. Thus, according to the minister, the central objective is the payment of debts, that is, by releasing the money, workers could use it to settle their debts and clear their name.
