One of the most commented subjects nowadays among retirees, without a doubt, is the 14th salary of the National Institute of Social Security (INSS), as thousands of beneficiaries await information whether, effectively, this extra bonus will be paid by the institution.

In advance, it is important to make it clear that this benefit will only be paid if the project regarding the 14th salary, which is currently being discussed in Congress, is approved. Furthermore, it is worth emphasizing that this so-called “anticipation” (if we can call it that) is actually equivalent to a loan that, obviously, can even count on high interest rates.
From this perspective, in fact, many people would choose to anticipate their 14th salary, if possible. This is because a large part of the population is in need of money due to the economic crisis that Brazil has been going through in the recent times as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic and the war that is taking place in Eastern Europe between Russia and Ukraine.
In this way, the ideal is, before accepting the advance of this offer by the bank, to take a good look at the credit conditions and not to place all the bets in the release of the 14th INSS salary, since this issue is still being widely discussed by the parliamentarians responsible for processing this proposal.
According to Bill 4367/20, authored by Deputy Pompeo de Mattos (PDT-RS), the initial idea is to offer an allowance of up to two minimum wages to retirees, pensioners and other beneficiaries of the INSS. If the project is approved, the following categories will be entitled to receive this benefit: Retirement, in general; Pension for death; Illness benefit; Accident allowance; Aid-seclusion; Maternity pay.
