As well as reported by the local press, the Kojima Industries group experienced a “ransomware” attack, harmful software used to capture data from computers and servers through the use of some type of cryptography.
Thus, on the night of February 26, the company was already attentive, since it had identified a threat to its servers. Soon after, they discovered that one of them was being attacked by the malware.
In this sense, after verifying the situation, Toyota had to publish a note clarifying what happened. Furthermore, the supplier still does not know how to inform when its system will be reestablished or when production will resume.
Finally, the automaker disclosed on the 28th that, due to the attack, all 28 lines of its 14 factories in Japanese territory had to be interrupted. However, there is already a forecast for the return of activities.
In addition to clarifying the attack without delving into the matter, Matsuno also issued a warning. The spokesperson stated that "the risk of cyber-attacks grows due to the current situation, including Ukraine", and instructs companies to strengthen their measures against such actions.
In addition, the Japanese Prime Minister, Fumio Kishida, also informed that the Japanese government will analyze and conclude whether or not Russia had any kind of participation in the incident that affected the companies in the country.
