O Worker Identification Number (NIT) is assigned by Social Security to citizens who wish to register in the General Social Security System (RGPS) and contribute, on a monthly basis, to obtain social security benefits.
Eleven characters make up the NIT. These numbers are similar to the PIS/Pasep, but it refers to the registration of the person as an individual taxpayer (CI), optional, special, domestic employee or self-employed worker.

The worker can consult the NIT through the Work and Social Security Card, on the page that identifies the person.
The consultation can still be carried out by calling 135, referring to the Social Security Service Center.
In addition, the NIT can also be printed on the Identity Card (RG), on newer models, on the Bolsa Família Card or on the Citizen Card.
