At Portuguese language, we have resources to signal how to pronounce a certain word. These resources are known as accents, one of them being the acute accent. Graphically represented by an oblique stroke to the right (´), it is placed above the vowels A, E, I, O and U to indicate a stressed syllable.
A stressed syllable it has a greater intensity within the word, being pronounced with an open sound when it is marked by a vowel with an acute accent. This accent is the most used in Portuguese, in addition to being easy to learn.
