The woman reports that while cleaning the room she took the rug from the bathroom area to wash and, when she turned the object over, she noticed that there were strange figures on it, similar to worms. The woman claims that the forms had a soft, sticky and “rubbery” appearance at the same time.
Karyina further claims that she removed the bathroom rug and took the item to a sunlit location to see if those things were really worms. That's because worms tend to squirm when they're touched by ultraviolet rays.
However, the Australian noticed that the figures did not move in the sun, proving that they were not worms.
To Karyina's relief, the strange shapes were just rubber threads that had come out of the rug, very probably due to the rupture of some fibers of the object, a phenomenon that is usually caused by heat and/or pressure.
Upon realizing the fact, the woman posted a few more photos of the partially melted carpet and asked for help from the internet users of a social network to find out how to remove the “disgusting” rubber threads that appeared on their mat.
Immediately, some netizens began to show disgust, saying that the shapes look very similar to worms. Meanwhile, others tried to help Karyina get rid of the nuisance.
“Buy the ‘goo remover’. This product is incredibly effective at removing anything sticky! Especially this!”, said one netizen. “Use hot water, it might do,” advised another.
Another person, a little more willing to help, gave the housewife a complete recipe. “Take some automotive acetone (don't use nail polish remover), pour it on the carpet, let it sit for five minutes, and after that period, rub it with a cloth. It should do,” she guided.
Another netizen warned Karyina about the use of chemical products to remove the rubber, as, according to her, certain substances can damage the bathroom tiles.
“This has happened in my bathroom before, and the only thing that worked for me without causing any harm was using a steam mop with a brush. Be very careful if you use other products, as some can scratch or damage the color of the tiles”, he warns.
There is no further information on whether Karyina was able to resolve the problem with her rug. In any case, it's safe to say that she won't forget the “disgusting surprise” she had so easily.
