The Emergency Operations Center (COE), in alignment with the World Health Organization (WHO), has three levels of activation.
The first one is the alert level, when identifying cases in other countries, as is the majority transmission in China. the second level (imminent danger) is characterized from the location of a suspected case, framed in the definition stipulated by the protocol. Level three designates the public health emergency of national importance, this when confirming a case of the disease.
The Minister of Health, Luiz Henrique Mandetta, claims that there are no indications of the circulation of the coronavirus in Brazil. Even the suspicion in Minas Gerais is still being evaluated.
The patient presented symptoms in line with the suspicion, but her general condition is positive. There are no indications that the virus is circulating, but precautionary measures are being taken. She is isolated and the 14 close contacts are under observation, highlights the minister.
Along the trip, the Brazilian left China and made two stopovers before arriving in Belo Horizonte (MG): one in Paris, France and another in Guarulhos, in São Paulo.
Mandetta said that the country has the necessary resources to identify the genome of the virus. The minister reports that seven thousand cases were analyzed. Of these, 127 were analyzed in detail and only ten were notified for testing.
Among the ten, nine were eliminated and only the Brazilian from Minas Gerais is seen as suspicious. The result of the exam to know if it is not the new coronavirus release is scheduled for next Friday, January 31st.
In addition to the measures adopted, the Minister of Health warns that Brazilians should avoid traveling to China. “We are recommending that trips to China be made only if necessary. The Ministry of Health advises against any travel to that country at this time.”
