US officials said a shooting took place on Sunday night. Police named the suspect and said they were still looking for him at around 4:30 am on Monday morning.
The shooting was reported around 11:00 pm near a campus parking garage. The campus emergency alert system alerted students that the suspect is "armed and dangerous" and told them to take shelter on site.

A video shared on Twitter just after midnight appeared to show a SWAT team entering a building. US officials said several agencies sent police officers in the search and that the Virginia State Police sent a helicopter.
The suspect was described to the Police Department as a black male who was last seen wearing "a burgundy jacket, blue jeans and red shoes". Police also released the name of the shooting suspect as Christopher Darnell Jones.

“Please, please take shelter commands seriously as the situation remains active. The suspect is armed and dangerous. If you are not in and safe, immediately seek safety,” Robyn S. Hadley, the school's vice president and dean of students, wrote in an email to the entire student body.
So far the police are still looking for the suspect, and around 07:10 am today (11/14) there was another alert:
