The Unified Selection System (Sisu) opens, on June 12, registration for vacancies made available by institutions throughout Brazil for admission in the second semester. In three days (until June 15th), students will need to enroll in courses offered by universities and institutes that use Sisu as a means of admission.
But, even though it is the most talked about subject among high school students and candidates for higher education courses, there are still a number of doubts about Sisu. To make life easier for future university students, Escola Educação gathered the main questions to answer them below. Let's go?

Before announcing 'new Fies', MEC 'goes after' students...
Run! The complementary registration period for Fies is open…
Do all feds only select through Sisu?
Not all, although they are already the majority. The Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), for example, still maintains its own selection system. You can check the form of admission on the websites of the institutions.
What do I need to enroll in Sisu?
You must have participated in the Enem 2017 edition without having completed the essay. Participation in previous years will not be considered.
Can I only participate in Sisu if I attend a public school?
No. It is enough to have completed high school and to have participated in Enem 2017, without finishing the essay. The issue is that universities reserve part of the vacancies in the quota system, including those coming from public schools.
Are the vacancies for the second semester the same as the beginning of the year?
No. Not all universities participate in the applications for the second semester, not all degrees are included. Therefore, normally, the number of opportunities is lower in the middle of the year. The consultation of what was offered can be done through the Sisu website.
I tried to enter through Sisu at the beginning of the year. Do I need to change my course option?
No. The vacancies available in the second semester have nothing to do with those offered at the beginning of the year. Therefore, if the desired course is still on the list of options, you can apply without fear.
How does it work if I tried Sisu at the beginning of the year?
There, it depends on your situation. If you applied, passed, but were not enrolled, you can try another vacancy, without any problem. If it wasn't approved, one more reason to try again, isn't it? Just keep in mind that the vacancies may not be the same.
Now, if you are already enrolled in a public university and approved for the second semester, you will need to choose one of the courses. After all, you cannot occupy two vacancies in public educational institutions at the same time.
However, if your course is being taken at a private institution, you can continue with graduation, normally. Except if you were contemplated by ProUni. In this case, you will have to choose between one of the courses.
What is the cutoff note?
Simple. The cut-off score is the score of the last ranked candidate within the number of available vacancies. It is updated daily, based on available vacancies and the performance of applicants.
Sisu does not have a minimum score as a requirement, but universities may require it for admission. Therefore, when applying for a vacancy, the system already informs the student if his grade is sufficient for the desired course. Otherwise, you will need to look for another option.
How does weighting work?
In the same way that universities may require a minimum score, they attribute different weights to each Enem test. However, this information is made available at the time of registration for a given course.
Be aware that your grade may be different in different courses. The facility is that the system itself calculates the candidate's grade in cases where there is a different allocation of weights.
I want to try the same course at different institutions. Can I?
Clear! If you only want Journalism, you don't have to study History! You can also apply for the same degree offered by the same university, but on different campuses.
If I was approved by Sisu, do I need to try the vestibular?
The universities that adopt Sisu as a form of admission do not require the student to take an entrance exam to enter. Therefore, your place is guaranteed if you pass through the System.
How's this registration call thing?
First, comes the regular call, that is, the one that already calls those approved in this initial phase. The list will be released on June 18. If the candidate is not classified, do not be discouraged.
He can apply to the waitlist for the first option course between June 22nd and 27th. From then on, it will be summoned in subsequent calls. Now, if in the first call, you are approved in the course of the second option, you can join the waiting list for the first one, okay?
Can I join a course through Sisu more than once?
Yes! If you have already attended an undergraduate course through Sisu, you can take a new course, without any problem. It is enough to have participated in Enem 2017, without finishing the essay.
How to choose my course through Sisu?
This is the broadest answer question. Until the 15th of June, the candidate must choose two courses, being able to change the options until the end of the period. Okay, but which one to choose? What if I switch to a course that raises the cut-off grade?
There are so many factors that determine the choice that the questions are more than pertinent! However, some tips may be useful when choosing your course through Sisu. Shall we see what they are?
First: choose the course you've always wanted to take. It seems obvious, but many people give up on their dream when faced with high cut-off marks or fierce competition. The truth is that taking an unwanted degree is frustrating and you run the risk of dropping out.
By the way, this course should be your first priority. If your score is lower than the cutoff score, try the course at a different institution, even if in another city.
Second: Take a good look at the possibility of choosing a course in another city. You desperately want to go to college, right? But, does this desire support a change of city or state? What will your cost of living be there? And the distance from the family?
Therefore, check these conditions before applying and moving on to a course that requires a change of domicile.
Third: don't choose your second option unconsciously. A lot of people choose the second option without thinking and that's wrong. The cut-off notes may vary until the last day, so don't just rely on the tranquility of the first option.
Choose a legal course, close to the first option, that gives you pleasure to take. If you only pass it and don't have the possibility to wait for the next edition, it won't cost you to take it.
The choice of course can be worth a lifetime, but it shouldn't scare you. Keep in mind that the cut-off marks can change until the last day and that the number of entries cannot be used as a reference.
Especially because there are always waiting lists, students who opt for the second option and trainers, so no panic and despair! Good luck in your choice!
