Everyone, of course, knows Netflix! The streaming service for movies and series won the world over with its innovative proposal to make thousands of titles available at affordable prices for subscribers. In this “footprint”, the Brazilian government created, in 2015, a similar system with educational videos: MECFlix!
No, you cannot watch La Casa de Papel or 13 Reasons Why on MECFlix. But, you can replace this experience with passing the National High School Exam (ENEM), for example! The platform was created precisely with the aim of helping candidates for the exam by offering free videos covering different areas of knowledge.

Youth and Adult Education (EJA) is once again a federal priority
Teacher performance is a key factor for the full inclusion of students…
MECFlix is part of Hora do Enem, which aims to offer interactive didactic material through the network, free of charge. Thus, anyone can prepare for the Enem without paying anything and having access to quality content. Currently, the service brings together around 1,900 video classes on languages, natural sciences, mathematics and human sciences.
So far, the channel is fed with content from other portals, such as Descomplica, Enem HQ and Geekie Games. The registration of videos, however, is screened by federal universities using their own methodology. The Ministry of Education, in turn, has been closing new partnerships to enrich the platform with more titles.
The proposal is very similar to Netflix, that is, the student can access the content made available by creating a profile on the channel. Is it possible to do this without creating an identity on the platform? Yes, it does, but the experience will be much more fruitful if you customize it.
As mentioned above, the videos are divided into four areas of knowledge. On the home screen, the student already sees the title suggestions, in the same way as in entertainment streaming. In addition to the theme, the thumbnail of each one brings its duration, making it easier for you to organize your time.
Why is it cool to create a profile? Because the functionality is the same as Netflix, that is, you can customize your playlist by assembling your own classes, as well as evaluating the clips and noting information on those you consider most important. More so, you can exchange ideas with other browsers about what they are watching.
The profile also allows you to change the channel's interface as you like, changing font size and lighting. And do you know the advantage? As part of a project, you can follow the Hora do Enem schedule, do online simulations, create a study plan and watch the videos on the platform, all for free!
To give you an idea of the variety of options, the list of videos includes news about the red tide, the order of the Cold War, everything about the Lyrical Genre and another way of demonstrating the theorem of Pythagoras. All in video lessons that last, on average, from five to 13 minutes.
To create your own playlist, just access the video, click the “Add” button located below it, create or choose a playlist and, if you want, you can even share it with friends. When watching the videos, you can rate and comment (like we do on YouTube), and add notes in the upper right corner of the screen.
Oh and, another interesting feature is being able to access Hora do Enem from the platform. When accessing your profile information, you will see a button, on the right side, guiding you to go to the project screen. Automatically, the content provided by the other channel can be viewed.
The videos offered by the platform are available to any user. For now, the service is only available for computers, so the experience is not as complete if accessed by smartphones. To create the profile, just enter your full name, email and password to register, in addition to accepting the terms and conditions of use.
