Super typhoon with winds of up to 230 km / h is worrying residents of the Pacific

Threatening to sweep across areas of the Pacific Ocean and heading towards the Philippines, a powerful typhoon it is gaining strength and could develop into a super typhoon as it advances on its trajectory.

Meteorologists warn that the phenomenon, dubbed Doksuri, is rapidly intensifying and has the potential to hit Taiwan, Hong Kong and China by the end of this week.

The typhoon started as a tropical storm in the Western Pacific on the morning of last Sunday, 23, but quickly became intensified and was upgraded to a typhoon with winds of up to 230 km/h by the Philippine meteorological agency Pagasa through the end of the day.

Also known as Egay in the Philippines, the typhoon is approaching possible transformation into a Category 5 super typhoon, the highest and most devastating typhoon on the hurricane scale.

The local meteorological agency issued an alert that the typhoon may have reached that level between the end of last Tuesday, the 25th, and the beginning of this Wednesday, the 26th.

Weather phenomenon could reach the highest category

The typhoon, now on its way towards Luzon, the Philippines' largest and most populous island, is poised to make landfall on the northeast rim soon, bringing with it the possibility of up to 250 mm of rain.

As it intensifies, the amount of rain could increase to around 450 mm by this Thursday, the 27th, becoming a major concern for the regions that will face the typhoon in the Sea of Southern China.

Taiwan, Hong Kong and parts of southern China are on high alert and preparing to face the impactsof Typhoon Doksuri in their areas, seeking precautionary measures to ensure the securityof their populations.

Due to the predicted level, the weather phenomenon could cause severe damage to local homes, which will depend on the wind that will spread along the coast.

Authorities and populations in affected regions such as Luzon, Taiwan, Hong Kong and parts of southern China, are attentive to the developments of the typhoon and preparing to face possible impacts significant.
